Strong double space-time wave packets using optical parametric amplification

Abstract The space-time (ST) wave packet, a type of light source with many anomalous behaviors, has already found application in weak-field optics, however its generation method limits energy and therefore strong-field optics. Here we show that the type-I collinear optical parametric amplification (OPA) is natural amplifier for ST because it, spectrum (i.e., angle-dependent phase-matching spectrum) signal idler same analytical expression as packet under narrowband approximation. high gain thin-crystal OPA allows large while ensuring unchanged correlation. Meanwhile, double containing two collinear-propagating ones amplified generated via nondegenerate reported, which short- long-wavelengths (relative to degenerate-wavelength) have superluminal subluminal velocities, respectively. This study realizes amplification, wavelength conversion, velocity switching will expand fields.
